April Fox
when you with your desperate
mouth laid upon me
the twisted, the broken
the nonsense of language
the child-words, redundancies
backward and lazy
i listened
and listened
and heard.

over the outside
you ran
with your arrogance
chased down the sidewalks
the mud puddles
captured your
feet, tripped you up
you were drowning
the dirt clogged your lungs
and the stench made you cry
and your arms, reaching up
came back empty
and nothing you said
could turn mud
into life.
