Final Hours

Darla M. Beck
I sat with you through your final hours,
I waited as your life slowly slipped away.
I watched you take your very last breath,
but good-bye I was not prepared to say.

You were both my grandpa and my father,
I came to live with you when I was two.
You were a kind and gentle-hearted man.
What will I do now that I have lost you?

Your final hours were spent with those you love,
by your side each family member remained.
Although we shed tears because you were gone,
angel wings we all knew you had gained.

This is so sweet. I actually felt emotion pouring from this, and through it all you kept form and rhyme. Beautiful. Gods bless your late grandfather. Sorry for your loss.
