Final Tips on Saving Money from the Queen of Cheap Part 4
We Are in the Homestretch of Saving Up to 50 % of the Cost of Living.
Make one Day your Cook Day.
I work late most of the time, be it at my day job or writing to get my career flowing smooth. Either way I am in front of a computer up to 16hrs a day. The last thing I want to do is stop to cook a big meal. However, I love to eat and my family needs nourishment.
For that reason I have set aside one Day a week, in which I precook everything but Steaks for the entire Week. This works out well in two way it safes me times and money.
This is for the Cooks in the family. How many times have you had to add a half an onion to a recipe, or half a Bell Pepper? Had to peel Carrots, Potatoes, etc and had to throw the Peel away? How often did you have leftover pieces of vegetables, because it was too much to add to your recipe? If you make one day your cook day, you no longer have that problem. Plan Meals that will use all they items up. Vegetable Peels in the right combinations cooked up and strained, flavored with a bit of spices like rosemary, thyme etc make a great Vegetable Broth. After you have cooked the entire week's meals freeze what you don't need in and when you get home and are ready to get cooking, all you have to do is heat it up and serve.
Make fast food Items at home...
My husband loves Arby's, but since the Food Nazis have decided to mess with all our foods, since a few people don't seem to know when to say no, we have lost quiet the taste for going out. This is not a problem however. His favorite was the Roast beef and Cheddar. You can make this just as easy at home, but using Cheese (Jar) you would use for your Nachos, Ketchup and Horseradish Sauce, thin sliced Roast Beef and Buns. The added benefit is that you won't be short changed on the Meat.
Have the taste for Chili Cheese Fries or Hot dogs? Simple make a quick pot of Chili at home and make two Dinners out of it. Chili one day and Chili Cheese Fries and Hot Dogs the other. You safe money and you will make it to your taste. If you need to cut calories then just make it in accordance with your diet, if not eat regular without taking the taste out.
Beauty, Beauty, Beauty where art thou oh Beauty...
It costs money to be beautiful that goes without question, but do you really have to spend hundreds of Dollars for creams, lotions and potions? Not if you know how to use simple food items to achieve the same effect.
Here are a few Examples: If you are a coffee drinker and have read one of the prior savings tips you already know one use of the coffee grounds here is another. Brew a cup of delicious coffee, enjoy a cup. Take 3 Table Spoons of Coffee grounds and blend with 1 Table Spoon of Salt. Use as a body scrub within 20min after brewing. Rinse in Shower.
