Finale May 26 the New American Idol 2010 is Lee DeWyze

American Idol Season 9. Wednesday, May 26, 2010. The voting results for the new American Idol winner are in, with less than 2% of the votes separating the winner from the other finalist. The judges are Randy Jackson, Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi, and- for his very last night- Simon Cowell. The host is Ryan Seacrest. Last night, the Top 2 contestants- Crystal 'Mommasox' Bowersox and Lee DeWyze- each performed three songs (listed toward the article's end, above Top 12 list).

Tonight the season's Top 12, six girls and six guys, will perform with superstars of the music business. They began with a rocking version of the rock song 'School's Out for Summer' and were soon joined by the original performer, Alice Cooper, who took the lead. The Top 12 are listed at this article's end (with ages and hometowns).

Dressed in black, Kris Allen, last year's American Idol winner, performed 'Trying to Be Perfect'. Thus far, he's sold only a third of the albums that runner-up Adam Lambert has.

Siobhan Magnus and Aaron Kelly began a duet with 'How Deep Is Your Love' and were joined by two of The BeeGees, the original performers- one of whom was lead singer Barry Gibb. Then, there was a tribute to Simon, titled 'Simon Uncovered', showing how sweetly cruel that he's been to competitors. Taped comments were made by Paula Abdul. Michael Lynche began singing 'Taking It to the Street' and was joined by the original performer- the Doobie Brothers' Michael McDonald. Dane Cook put music to Simon's greatest insults. Some past rejected contestants from the show joined him on stage toward the end.

The Top 6 girls sang 'We Are Beautiful In Every Single Way' and 'Makes MeThat Much Stronger'. The original singer joined the performance- Christina Aguilera. Then, Christina was left alone on stage to sing a beautiful solo- 'You Lost Me'. Her new album is Bionic. Ricky Gervais was the comic intermission with a set of Simon jokes. The Top 6 guys sang a medley of Hall & Oates songs. Then, Darryl Hall and John Oates took the stage and performed their own music.

Crystal Bowersox sang an Alanis Morrissette song. Then she brought Alanis on stage. The pair sang 'You Oughta Know'. American Idol season four winner Carrie Underwood sang 'Undo It', which she co-wrote with Kara DioGuardi. On behalf of the Ford Motor Company, Kris Allen presented Crystal and Lee with two Ford cars. Then, the Top 12 did their Ford video ad.

Casey James, who just missed being a finalist, sang 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn'. Joining him partway through was the original performer, Poison's lead singer Bret Michaels. Poison is an American glam metal band.

Lee DeWyze and Chicago performed a medley of Chicago's hits together. There was more of 'Simon Uncovered'. Up next was an ensemble performance of 'Pants on the Ground' led by John Bazemore who sang the song for an American Idol audition this season.

Then, Paula Abdul came on stage. She told Simon that of all the people-cheerleaders, music giants, etc.- she's worked with over the years, "None can hold a candle to you." A video of Simon making kind comments was shown. The video soundtrack was a recording of Frank Sinatra's 'My Way'.

Past American Idol winners and runners-up came on stage, one by one, singing 'Together, We Are One', led by Kelly Clarkson the very first winner. Paula, in a strapless hot pink dress, sat on Simon's lap during the performance. Then, host Ryan called Simon up to the stage. Simon gave a speech of appreciation and thanks.

The Top 12 began singing 'Nothing' and were joined by the original performer, Janet Jackson- a diva in a black gown with red accents and glittering shoulders. Then, the black dress came off, revealing a skin-tight bosom-exposing jumpsuit with laces down the outer sides of her legs, for her performance of 'Oh, You Nasty Boys'. Janet has had thirty-one #1 songs. She sounded like her late brother, Michael Jackson, on 'Nothing'.

Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze began singing 'With a Little Help From My Friends' and were then joined by one of the performers of the song, Joe Cocker. The Beatles song, written by Lennon and McCartney, was first sung by Ringo Starr.

American Idol Winner Results Time: A man from Telescope brought out the certified sealed results and handed it to Ryan who stood next to both finalists, Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze. He said, "Dim the lights. After the nationwide vote, I can now tell you- the winner of American Idol 2010 is- Lee DeWyze. Crystal Bowersox is the runner-up.

Under a shower of light and confetti, Lee DeWyze reprised 'It Was a Beautiful Day', the first song to go on his first album for American Idol.
