Finally There is Find My Family

No matter what walk of life you come from, at some point you have probably felt rejected, incomplete and maybe even empty within. These feelings could be brought on for a number of reasons, and all of us end up searching for answers. This search can be a struggle, even heartbreaking, and that is what ABC's new show Find My Family is all about.

Find My Family reveals the struggle for those who have never seen or met their biological family. With each new episode we follow the hosts, Tim Green and Lisa Joyner (both adopted themselves) on a journey as these "children" meet their biological family for the first time. Each episode consists of two stories, which eventually build up to their reunion. We see a mother, son, father or daughter filled with emotion as tears of joy fall from their eyes. We hear their questions and maybe for the first time in their lives, their questions are answered. They know why they were given up for adoption and understand that it was in their best interest, that they weren't just thrown out like a pair of old boots.

Plenty of adopted adolescents and adults have gone throughout their life feeling like no one could possibly understand what they're feeling inside. With Find My Family they will realize that there are other people out there that feel exactly the same way they do and that they aren't alone.

However, some critics and viewers might strongly disagree and see this show as a slap in the face to adoptive parents all around the globe. After all, they are the ones who are raising these children from infants, toddlers or school-aged kids. They are the ones who care for them when they are sick or injured, and soothe their fears when they have a bad dream. The adoptive parents are the real parents, not the biological parents. With all of that being said, both opinions of the show is understandable.

Either way, Find My Family is a show full of emotion, real life issues and happy endings. One that everyone can relate to in some small way.
