Stretch Your Dollars at Target This Black Friday

Sandra Knasiak
Thanksgiving is right around the corner which means that Black Friday 2009 is also rapidly approaching. While getting up at the crack of dawn and dealing with massive crowds and lines might not be your cup of tea, some deals might be too good for you to pass up this year. If the deals are good enough, Black Friday can be a fun, invigorating activity. As of this writing, several stores have released their Black Friday ads including Target, Lowes, Kmart, Old Navy, Staples, Best Buy, Office Depot and more. The Internet makes it easy for you to decide early if Black Friday is worth it for you.

I am focusing specifically on Target's Black Friday deals in this article. Get your coffeemaker ready because Target opens at 5am on Black Friday. To get the best deals, which Target calls doorbusters, you will need definitely need to get there early! Here are a few of my favorite highlights from Target's Black Friday ad:

These are only the highlights. To see the entire ad as well as the other ads listed above, visit black-friday.net.

To stretch your dollars even further, try these Target tips. If you have any reusable bags or totes, be sure to bring them with you to. On Black Friday and everyday, Target gives customers a $0.05 credit per bag they bring in. If you are responsible with credit cards, it might be worth it to open a Target credit card and save 10% (upon approval) on your purchase. Look for clearance steals at Target on the endcaps. If you need any groceries, check Target's website for coupons to take with you. Since you will be there already, check Target's Coupon Policy on the website. Target also offers price matching. The press release posted on their website explains how it works.

There are also some general Black Friday shopping tips you should be aware of if this is your first rodeo. Get a good's nights rest and be ready for some early rising. If you are like me and need coffee to get you going, I suggest getting your coffeemaker ready the night before to save time in the morning. The best deals go the fastest so get there first. In some cases (the very best deals), you will need to arrive hours before the stores open. Find a partner and map out your plan attack together using store sales ads. Make a list and be sure to follow it. Don't forget your ads, having them with you will help you find what you are looking for. Be sure to dress comfortably since you might be outside for a bit. I recommend sneakers since you will mostly likely have to stand in line. Since you will be working up an appetite (bargain hunting is hard work), eat something before heading out or bring a snack to eat while you wait for the first store to open. Be certain to do your research ahead of time. If you are planning on purchasing a computer, plan on the sales associate trying to sell you add-ons. Learn ahead of time exactly what you need and what you don't need. Lastly, check the return policy on all of your purchases. Because of the deep discounts, you want to make sure you can return your purchases if needed.

Most of all, have fun and remember to be nice to one another. Isn't that what this season is all about?
