If you're new to the Charlotte area or have been here all your life and just want to try something new this year -- the answer is here. There are quite a few places to see fireworks in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. All you need to do is figure out where your family wants to go!

Red, White and Boom is Charlotte's family oriented 4th of July spectacular! In Center City Charlotte and Memorial Stadium you will find the best Uptown Charlotte has to offer. Admission is free for the fireworks that begin at 9:30 but that's not all. The gates open at 4p.m. to Family Fun Fest in Memorial Stadium. U.S. Airways will host lots of family friendly events and activities in this alcohol-free attraction. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. The fireworks take off from Charlotte's Central Piedmont Community College campus at 9:30 -- traffic will be limited around the campus after 7p.m. There will be ample parking in Uptown Charlotte but please be advised that street parking will not be allowed during this time.

So you want a little more action then that? Lowe's Motor Speedway has just the ticket! For the second year in a row Lowe's Motor Speedway will rev up their engines and light up the night sky for this two-night event. There is an admission fee for this event ,children 6 and under admitted free. Gates open to the racing events at 5p.m. with the fireworks scheduled to go off at 10:30 each night. Get your tickets early or just get more information by going to www.lowesmoterspeedway.com.

Want something more to do with your day? Carowinds is your answer! Located on the border of North and South Carolina, Carowinds amusement park has a lot to offer. Any amusement park has great rides but this one has a water park in it! Spend the hot day cooling off in Kookabura Bay and then head over to the great coasters as the sun starts to set. You've got little kids? No problem -- Carowinds has an entire area devoted to the smaller set! Fireworks are set to go off as soon as the sun goes down. Your admission ticket gets you two parks in one and a great fireworks display. An insider tip on the fireworks -- load up your cooler with refreshing drinks earlier in the day and have a bumper party in the parking lot as they light up the sky. For more information on Carowinds and all it has to offer visit www.carowinds.com.

Maybe that's too much excitement. Want to tone it down a bit? Are you looking for more of a hometown atmosphere? Just travel north of Charlotte to Davidson in North Mecklenburg County. Talk about your hometown flare! Residents dress up in their favorite Independence Day outfits and meet at the Davidson Town Hall. From there they join in a parade to McEver Field. Once at McEver Field you will find a wide variety of activities, concessions and live entertainment! The only public fireworks display in North Mecklenburg County will go off at 9:30p.m. This event has stuff for everyone -- children and adults alike!

With so much to do in Charlotte -- there must be something for you and your family. Whether you prefer the large atmosphere of Red, White and Boom or the more hometown version of 4th of July in Davidson -- there's something for everyone.
