Find Cheap Gas Prices Online: A Little Clicking Can Help You Save Money

H.Rox
Cheap gas prices are hard to find. But if you click on these websites, you'll be able to find the cheapest gas available. With such a wide variety of gas prices in the same area - you could save a lot of money by avoiding the expensive stations.

Find Cheap Gas Prices with MSN:

This cheap gas website very easy to use. Just punch in your zip code and up comes a map and a list.

Accuracy: (I checked gas prices at ten different stations) 6 of the MSN cheap gas website's prices were exactly right, but the website couldn't find 4 stations.

According to this cheap gas website, they get their information every night "from over 90,000 gas stations across the nation."

Drawbacks: On the MSN cheap gas website, the map doesn't scroll around once you zoom in, and if you're looking for cheap gas in an area where you don't know the zip code, you have to look the zip up first.

Still, I thought this cheap gas website was the easiest way to find the cheapest gas prices. These other websites are listed alphabetically.

Find Cheap Gas Prices with Fuelmeup:

This cheap gas website gives you a chart when you enter your town name or zipcode.

Accuracy: The Fuelmeup cheap gas website had 8 exactly right, 1 one cent off, 1 not found

They use gas price spotters (volunteers who enter the information).

Drawbacks: This cheap gas website has a narrow search. One town only had two gas price listings. You can click on each gas station to get individual maps, but there's no overview map with all of the gas stations.

Find Cheap Gas Prices with GasBuddy.com:

They use volunteer spotters to enter cheap gas prices, but many times it didn't work.

Accuracy: This cheap gas price website had 5 prices exactly right, 5 weren't found/or the website didn't work.

Drawbacks: I often got this message: "No gas prices found. Please choose another area. We need your help! We rely on volunteer gas price spotters to submit gas prices to New York Gas prices. If you know of any current gas prices in this area, please post them!"

Each gas station does have a link to a map that you can click. It includes an overview map that you can scroll around and see lots of stations to find cheap gas prices. But this didn't always work, and many of the streets aren't labeled. Overall, It's hard to find cheap gas prices here.

Find Cheap Gas Prices with Gaspricewatch.com:

This website also relies on volunteer spotters to help you find the cheapest gas prices.

Accuracy: This cheap gas website had 7 exactly right, 1 was four cents off, 2 not found.

Drawbacks: Many of the cheap gas prices on this website were clearly out of date. Some were 90 cents to a dollar off the prevailing gas prices. They do color code their gas prices, though, so if you see a red bubble, you know that gas price is older.

Find Cheap Gas Prices with Internet Auto Guide:

You click on your state, your county and your town.. but you can always bookmark it if you like this cheap gas website the best.

Accuracy: this cheap gas price website got 4 exactly right, 5 one to two cents off, 1 not found.

Maybe the information is there, but I didn't easily see how they get their gas prices.

Drawbacks: This cheap gas website doesn't give you maps to see where the gas stations are. And, there doesn't seem to be any method to their listing of cheap gas prices. The cheapest gas price is at the top, but after that, there seems to be no particular order.

Find Cheap Gas Prices with Mapquest:

You can put in your town name, zip code or intersection. They sort the results by PRICE, DISTANCE and ALPHA (alphabetically).

Accuracy: This cheap gas website had 0 prices exactly right, 8 were one to two cents off, 2 were not found.

According to the Mapquest cheap gas website, they get their information from the Oil Pricing Information Service.

Drawbacks: When you start your search, this website comes up with cheap gas prices that might be 20 minutes away. If you click on DISTANCE, this cheap gas website lists stations that are closer to your starting point. BUT, you can't see any gas prices until you scroll over the map. And, this website can be very S-L-O-W.
