The air is getting crisper and cooler. The days are getting shorter. Fall is approaching, and Halloween is right around the corner. Looking for a hair-raising Halloween horror story to experience? Look no farther than Mountville, Pennsylvania's "Field of Screams" located off of Route 30.

"Field of Screams" was established in 1993, and includes three horrifying events. With 8 full time designers on staff year round, "Field of Screams" offers a new and exciting experience with every evening's events. Often called "America's #1 Haunted Attraction," this is Halloween tradition at its scariest!

"The Haunted Hayride" takes brave Halloween thrill-seeking souls through a 25 acre corn field in a tractor pulled wagon. The slow creepy crawl lasts approximately twenty minutes while the surround sound equipment echoes in the night as the living dead stalk riders around every turn. The Harrisburg Patriot News insists, "No. It's not a scene from a Stephen King novel, but it could be."

"The Den of Darkness" is the home of the brutal butcher who is looking for his "next meal." This house of horror offers a three story den of creepy corridors and mysterious mazes to explore before petrified participants almost meet their demise in the morgue. Snapper Millersville University warns patrons to "Be afraid. Be very afraid!"

"Frightmare Asylum" brings everyone's worst Halloween nightmare to life. Check out the Applegate Mental Institution's four stories of "eye popping illusions" recommends Central Source Newspaper. The four floors are filled with freaky, frightening surprises from the deranged patients who have taken over the asylum. This Halloween, check out the haunted hospital and prepare to be nearly scared to death by the spooky special effects.

"Field of Screams" remembers little ghost and goblin seekers as well as the faint of heart with the "Little Screamers" hayride. This Halloween hayride is a fun-filled activity with face painting and corn mazes.

The attraction has plenty of food, games, portable restroom facilities, and The Scream Shop Gift Shop for scary souvenirs. Check out the calendar for scheduled DJs, bands and magicians as well as pumpkin pie eating contests and give-a-way opportunities from local radio stations.

"Field of Screams" staff recommends Sunday visits, as wait times are usually shorter.

Ticket prices on the Scream Pass are $23 and are good for all three attractions. Combo passes are available for $20 and are good for your choice of 2 attractions. Ticket prices for the "Little Screamers" hayride ranges from $3-$5. Fridays and Saturdays ticket hours are from 6pm-10pm and Sundays from 6pm-9pm.
