One of the ways that you can find inspiration and guidance is by finding someone who has the kind of life that you want to lead. Do you know someone who has confidence, is in control of their life, can bounce back quickly from negative situations, and finds success with ease? Talk to that person. Find out how they do it. They may be able to tell you what got them on their path. It's especially useful if you can find someone who did not always have the good life. Someone who has had to overcome adversity to get to where they are is the best kind of person to talk to.
You may also be able to find guidance through support groups. If you have been a victim of abuse, if you have suffered from addiction, or if you just need some people to talk to who are on a path to personal betterment, you may be able to find a support group that can help you.
There are also a multitude of self-help books and videos on the market. You're reading one right now! Be wary of anything that seems like a fad, or promises to change your life in a week, or anything like that. Personal growth and improvement are not things that can be achieved overnight.
If you're looking for something that can help (other than this book) I would suggest a video called "The Secret." Before you start wondering, no, I'm not getting paid to mention their name. The video came to me from a friend, and after I watched it, it really changed my way of thinking and living. I have since lent the video out to many people, and suggested it to others.
The Secret is all about the "law of attraction". It tells you how your thoughts affect your life, and how what you think is what you bring into your life. The people in the video are experts in various fields. They range from an astrophysicist to a Feng Shui designer. It has no religious bias, and is a really amazing video for anyone wanting to change their way of thinking and living in an effort to have a better life.
