Heritage Village was originally created to be a part of the Pinellas County Historical Museum to be a one-stop location for everything historical in the county. In 1961 the Archives and Library at Heritage Village became the primary resource center for the collection and conservation of the county's history. There are more than 3,500 historical books focusing on the county's history and more than 8,500 photographs documenting the county's past.
There are a variety of different ways you can explore and experience Heritage Village. Take time to go on a Guided Walking Tour where you will get to experience history with hands on craft classes and interpretive programs. I have found the Pinellas Passport Guided Walking Tour to be one of the most interesting and educational tours in the area. This one-hour tour will take you on a stroll through the pine and palmetto landscaping and into Pinellas County's history. You will see all of the historical buildings including homes. The tour costs $2 per person with a minimum of 20 people; or a total of $40 for the tour. Reservations are required for this tour and can be made by calling 727.582.2125.
Heritage Village is located at 11909 125th Street North in Largo, Florida (33774). For additional information call 727.582.2128 or visit www.pinellascounty.org/heritage/.
Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Heritage Village is closed Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
