Sarah Fall has some great stories online at: http://acacia.pair.com/Journey.of.the.Heart/
The down side -- she only publishes once a month.
The up side -- she has a lot of completed stories on the site right now.
Louisa May Alcott's work can be found at: http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/a#a102
The down side -- her work is very old, so it's an acquired taste.
The up side -- you are going to love her thoroughly modern character, Jo.
Jane Austen's amazing writing is available here: http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/a#a68
The down side -- she's not just an acquired taste, but her whole style of humor is hard to understand until you've gotten used to it.
The up side -- I have never found any stories to surpass hers. And that's saying a lot.
Shakespeare cannot be overlooked. His works are at: http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/s#a65
The down side -- he's very, extremely old fashioned, and unless you've been raised on the King James Bible, it's going to be tough to adjust.
The up side -- if you struggle through it, you can say with the Ivy League grads that you "know Shakespeare." Plus, he's really amazing. Try him.
Lowercase Bee Jai is a MySpace blogger, but don't discount his talent. Check him out at: http://profile.myspace.com/92110040
The down side -- he hasn't published much fiction on his site, yet.
The up side -- you can get in on the beginning of someone who's sure to be exceptionally good.
Ted Dekker doesn't really qualify, since you can only read his blog (no actual fiction) at: http://www.teddekker.com/site.php
The down side -- no free books online, but you have to get to know this guy. Check out the library, or buy his books. I do.
The up side -- even on his blog, you get a glimpse of the very unique and interesting mind of a great thinker and a fun personality.
Interviews and other news about great Christian authors can be found at: http://www.focusonfiction.net/
Amazon has listmania sites that open my eyes to great reads I can check out at the library. Here's one example: http://www.amazon.com/Books-that-touch-the-soul/lm/2E1L20E3FC3GI/ref=cm_lmt_fvlm_f_3_rlrsrs0/104-4074711-6544725
