Find Your Unique Blogging Voice

Belle Story
There are lots of writers in this world. Writing is actually more common than you think; your best friend probably has an amazing writing talent you aren't even aware of! With so many writers, how come only a small portion of them ever get published? Most pieces of work fall into the one of the basic categories and publishers are looking for something different. So what sets apart the published authors from the undiscovered ones who are still typing away in their bedroom?

A unique perspective or a unique voice is what publishers are looking for! Don't try to imitate the style of your favorite author, because the world already has one author like that. Even if you feel like your writing is off the wall, stay true to yourself. Your writing may be different, but different is considered a gold mine in the eyes of publishers.

Blogging is somewhat easier than typical article or book writing. Blogging allows you to write in the same voice you speak in. There are basically no rules with blogging! Blogging is like having a conversation with readers. Yet, people often run out of things to talk about. Have you ever been at a party and had trouble making small talk? Making small talk can be a real challenge for many people. If you run out of things to talk about, why would anything stop you from running out of things to write about? It won't! Be prepared for days when no words fill your mind! You will find it much easier to find things to blog about on a daily basis if your blogging is genuine and deep rather than shallow. Expose your personality in your writing! You may be tempted to resort to copying the style of another blogger if your blog isn't having much success or your at a loss for ideas. Don't give in! You didn't copy the style of your favorite published author because the world didn't need another one; the online world doesn't need two identical blogging styles either.

People who try to follow the popular crowd end up feeling resentful in the end for hiding their true selves. They may attract lots of friends in the beginning, but the friendships won't be genuine or lasting. Copy the style of another blogger and you may initially attract new followers, but the readers will disappear as soon as your false image starts to fade.
