Preston Arts Center actually has a Louisville arts supply store and a New Albany art supply store.
The Louisville art supply store location has a nice array of easels and art desks at very reasonable prices. I can tell I'll be making quite a few return trips to this new favorite spot. If you're looking for paper, pads or board, they've got everything from blue line paper and sketch pads to bristol board and water color supplies and canvasses. They even have paper and supplies specific to Manga artists.
A wonderful array of pencils, pastels, charcoal, and markers are available as well in addition to supplies for all other kinds of arts, including the erasable non photo pencil that I was seeking. The staff was extremely helpful in suggesting an artist's pen to use for inking and outlining.
A nice large selection of books is available as well. Topics range from sketching and drawing to painting or even fashion design. If you're looking for information pertaining to anything arts related you can bet that you can find it at Preston Arts Center or that their helpful staff can point you in the right direction.
Preston Arts Center is more than a Louisville art supply store. They offer classes on all types of artistic expression for both children and adults. Adult classes vary on topics from drawing to painting with prices ranging from $100 to $200. Kid's classes, such as "My little sketchbook" and "Cartooning" are about $55 for 5 classes. The Louisville and New Albany art supply stores also have an email or mailing list that you can join. IT's also possible to find artists to do custom work for you.
The Louisville arts supply store is located at 3004 Bardstown Road in the Highlands and can be reached at 502-454-9954. The New Albany arts supply store is located at 315 Pearl Street and can be reached at 811-944-0181The two locations of Preston Art Center share a website at www.prestonartscenterinc.com .

Thank you for the wonderfully kind words about us. Preston is our name, not a location. Andrew and Roena Preston were our founders, and Don Preston and I carry on their tradition.
I didn't say it was on preston??
I have been going to Preston Arts Center for years it used to be on Bradley, then moved to Bardstown road. Never on Preston though? But they have a great selection of pretty much whatever your looking for. And they always have a knowledgeable friendly staff. Plus they give you store credits for every purchase. So the more you spend the more free stuff you get!
