Finding Cheap and Used Furniture on Craigslist.org
Finding Good Furniture Doesn't Have to Be so Pricey
Craigslist offers a network of local and community classifieds, which luckily includes furniture. They offer an easy way to find people in your area to purchase from. It's important to note that Craigslist does not handle any of the transactions, and anything you purchase is on a seller to buyer agreement. Craigslist merely offers a place to post and find classifieds.
When arriving at the site you'll see that the listings can be organized by location and by type, so it's easy to find what you're looking for. Just click on your state first. Then you'll be asked for a general location within your state. After this you'll be able to search for furniture.
The furniture you'll find is generally sold by owner, and usually there is a variety of listings for your area. You can find anything from dining tables, to beds and mattresses, to chairs, etc. Like any used furniture, it's best to inquire about the quality of what you're buying and how old it is. Most of the listings include pictures along with prices, and it is best to search for furniture with pictures and avoid listings without. This way you can see what you want to buy before you go through the hassle of obtaining it.
The good thing about buying directly from people is that you'll find some furniture decently cheap. Some of the best listings include people who are moving soon and are trying to get rid of furniture that they can't transport. A lot of this furniture is in good condition. It definitely beats overpriced furniture that you'll find in stores, and perhaps some of the pieces you'll find used will appeal to you more than new furniture.
Clearly, anything you purchase you'll have to pick up locally, so it's good to keep this in mind when buying furniture. You don't want to drive out to pick something up that won't fit in your car. Also, I'd avoid any long distance transactions, especially anything that includes shipping. If you pick up locally then you can avoid any long distance scams.
