The world needs good auto mechanics, appliance repair service, cabinetmakers, or all-around handy men. Trade schools are available for a fraction of the cost of a college degree. I just paid an appliance technician to fix a washing machine. The bill was $50 for the call and $45 for the part. It took him about 20 minutes to do the job that needed done.
The repair technician is a local man and he came the same day I made the call. Not having to wait days for a service call is very much appreciated. I prefer to use local people.

Remodel and Repair
The housing market is at all time lows and people that are able to stay in their homes are more interested in remodeling and repairs than they are selling and moving. Any 'handyman' can have all the business he wants to have by word-of-mouth advertisement. Just let friends and neighbors know that you are available. Excellent work ethics will keep one busy year-round.
Butchers, Bakers and Candlestick Makers
There is nothing wrong with common, everyday, ordinary work. The world needs people willing and able to give a days' work for the satisfaction of producing a needed product or giving a desired service. Elitism is rapidly going by the wayside. The 'smart' one ahead of the game is the small business entrepreneur.
