Be Honest with Yourself
If you're looking for a relationship, you want someone that can share some common interests, but if you are looking for a roll in the hay that might not matter. If you are seeking a relationship, you need to evaluate your interests and decide what is most important to you.
Places Attracting People with Your Interests
Look for potential dates in places you frequent because you enjoy the activity there. Be savvy enough to go to the places when there is an influx of single people. If you enjoy working out, try going to the fitness center on a Friday night when prospects without dates are likely to go. If you enjoy tennis, sign up for a singles round robin. If you enjoy singing, perform at a karaoke bar.
Join a Club
Clubs and extracurricular activities are not just for high school students. Contact your local YMCA or community center. They may have co-ed volleyball teams, card clubs, and other activities that may put you in the position to meet the perfect mate.
Be Friendly
Go out of your way to meet people in the course of your day. You never know when a casual conversation can lead to something more. The grocery store, work, the laundry room if you live in an apartment, or just about any public place you frequent can be a source for finding dates.
Take a Class
Local night schools offering classes ranging from wine tasting to writing. Choose an interest and sign up. Classes naturally facilitate conversation and you know that you have a common interest with everyone in the room.
Singles Functions
Read your local paper or religious newsletter. You may find a host of singles events. Attend an event and introduce yourself to a few new people. If the event is not quite what you are seeking, you can always leave, but you might just find someone ready to ditch the party with you.
