Just having Photoshop installed on your computer is not enough. You need either to go out and buy a book on Photoshop or take classes. Either way this can become an expensive proposition.
Photoshop offers a few tutorials in their help file but this is not always enough to learn how to do certain things. There are always tricks and techniques for learning certain things.
You can find free tutorials and tips on how to do certain things in Photoshop by searching on the internet. By using Google or Yahoo just do a search on Free Tutorials for Photoshop. Just be sure to include what version of Photoshop you are using. This will make a difference if you use a tutorial for a latter version than the one you have and find out that your software can't do that.
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to join an online User Group. This will give you access to many people who are trying to learn Photoshop also. You will also have the experts on these User Groups who can probably answer any question you may have. If you are trying to correct the color or intensity of a photo and you are running into a problem. Just post your question on the User Group and 9 times out of 10 someone will tell you how to do it or point you in the right direction.
You will also find on these User Groups files that users share and upload. These files may be templates or how to do a particular thing in Photoshop. They may even have short slideshows you can download, explaining how they performed certain tasks step by step.
One of the sites that I use all the time when I want to learn how to do something with any of the Adobe products is to go to about.com. This site has everything nicely layout by software type and makes anything you are looking for easy to find. They also have some free video classes on some things. This would be the first site I recommend you go to before you even do a search.
Whatever you want to learn in Photoshop you can usually find it for free. And if you can't find it, just post it on the User Group. There are many nice people on there that will go out of their way to help you.
