Searching for a good job with flexible hours is not easy. Here are some jobs that would give you a secure income and still allow you to have time for yourself.
1. A Mathematician.
The median salary for a mathematician is $90,000 a year. The hours range from 45-50 a week. In this line of work you solve problems with mathematical formulas and don't have to interact with people much, so stress level is low. Many companies are willing to let you schedule your own hours. As a "number cruncher" your work can often be done at home.

Executive Recruiter
This job gives you a lot control over your hours. You interview possible work candidates for firms and companies. The amount of time spent interviewing isn't important. The quality of work from the people you choose is what will be looked at. If your selections prove be good employees then your firms will be satisfied, regardless of the amount of hours put in. Median salary for this job is $77,000.
3. Sales Representative
This job can often be done at home or in an office, either way it is known for having very flexible hours. You make a lot of phone calls to potential or already existing clients, trying to increase company sales. Income for this kind of work can be on commission, but a base salary is also common. This job would give you a median salary of $62,000 a year.
4. Accountant
Accountants are becoming scarcer, which has made companies more flexible and family friendly to them. Firms need accountants and will work with your personal scheduling needs. Median pay is $41,000 a year.
5. Marketing Analyst
Companies that specialize in project work, meaning they hire you per project, are best, if you want to set you own hours. You prepare marketing strategies for a company's product, so you will be evaluated based on the results of your strategies and not the amount of hours you've worked. The median salary for this career is $56,900.
6. Ghostwriter
Writing for other people usually requires a simple deadline. Whether you write at night or day does not matter, as long as you finish by the deadline. You're generally paid per piece, so the amount of income you bring in is based on you and your skills as a writer. The median salary for a ghostwriter is $56,000.
7. Meeting/Event Planner
This is also another job that is done per project. Whether you're planning a simple gathering or a huge wedding, you set your own hours. This career has a median salary of $52,600.
8. Massage Therapist
Working at a spa or health club would give you a stable income and the hours would be fairly flexible. However, many massage therapist choose to acquire there own clientele by opening there own place or by doing house calls. This would give you even more flexibility with your hours. Median salary for a message therapist is $44,300.
9. Personal Trainer/Fitness Instructor
Working hours at a gym or health center can be reasonable. While working there you can also acquire clients who would hire you as their own personal trainer. Once you have enough clients, you set your own hours. A trainer's median salary is $49,400.
10. Real-Estate Agent
In this line of work you often have days that are very full, showing homes or land, but you also have days that are free or not very full. You may not have as much control over your hours as some of the other career options but you should have time for a life. With some careful planning you could make this work. The median salary for a real-estate agent is $41,300.
For the single mom, or couple that both work, ask about day care. Many companies provide this service for their employees.
These are just some of the possible careers and jobs that would allow you time for yourself and your family. There are plenty more careers out there, you just have to search all the options and see what works for you.
