Finding Me

She walks right by the mirror
Afraid of what shell see
Her mind can't help but wonder
What do they think of me?

Hidden in her darkness
Safe away from light
She runs from shelter to shelter
Toying with her fright

No comfort from any direction
A choice is to be made
Fearing what the future holds
In a river of tears she wades

I stand beside her
A beacon of the light
Holding in me the power
To erase her eternal night

All she has to do is look
Look up into her face
To see the light within her
To see it gives sadness chase

The courage to look up
To look and see the truth
The ability to know and trust
The person that is you

I live my life in the dark
Afraid to face the light
Afraid of catching fire
Or worse that the light's not bright

What if my light is dim,
And can't show me the way?
What if it's a burning bush,
That beckons me to stay?

I'd rather go on living
In the chilly night
There the path is clear
And I don't have to fight

And yet that glimmer of hope
Is sparked and burns in me
And grows more and more as the years go by
And forces me to see

To see what I've been hiding from
And to be calm in what I see
To have the courage to face the glass
No lies; the real me.
