Finding the Motivation to Start Weight Watchers

The holidays are over and it's time for some New Year's resolutions. The rich gravies, butter laden rolls, deeply marbled roasts, and decadent cheesecakes are now a fond memory. The bubbly champagne and rich hors d'oevres of New Year's Eve are consumed and completed. It's time to check out those resolutions and make a commitment. You've heard a lot about Weight Watchers and it seems like it might be a good idea. You can eat what you want, including all that rich holiday food, but in moderation. But can you really get ready to give up the holiday excess in return for a healthy, low fat lifestyle? Sure you can!

Join the online community. Sign up on www.weightwatchers.com and start checking into the recipes and meal ideas. Examine the points tracker and familiarize yourself with some of your favorite foods and their points values. Enter a few recipes from your own archives and see what you can incorporate into your diet. Challenge yourself to find at least five items you never knew were low points. Find a few fruits and vegetables listed that you've never had. Plan to eat at least one every week for variety. Get excited!

Buy new walking shoes. Food is only part of changing to a more healthy lifestyle. Physical activity is key, and walking is a perfect way to really get started. Boost your excitement with your new walking regime by buying some new fantastic shoes to break in. Pair them with some wicking soft socks and a few walking outfits and you're all set with your new outfits to get moving. Don't forget the iPod!

Go shopping. Hit up the grocery stores and search out those unusual fruits and veggies you identified online. Find at least three 100 calorie foods you'd like to have on hand for snacks and cravings. Pick up plenty of frozen low fat entrees, light breads and wraps for sandwiches. Hit the deli for some roasted turkey or chicken and make sure to check out the Weight Watchers lines of food. Find a few items and check out the nutritional information. Pick out a few low point items that surprise you. Bring home some good basics and add a few items that entice you. Be creative!

Make sure you do your homework and understand the Weight Watchers points system. Make your plans before you hit Diet Day and have your groceries purchased, your first few meals planned and your exercise all set. You will set off into a new lifestyle with excitement and plenty of motivation for a new year and a new you.
