Finding You Natural Audience

Rebecca Furtado
After blogging for pennies for almost a year I am still learning the ropes. Definitely in article writing ;different art;es seem to do better on certain sites than others. The of these articescontent is similar and many times the same type readership these sites may be very much the same. It can be hard to really know why one article does better on one site than the other. There are things I have decided to skip when marketing articles. One is bugging every cousin you have to read your work.

I write articles every day .It is a waste of time to make all my friends read my work because I ask them too. A captive audience is not a real audience. The second thing I will not do is play the "you read my stuff I will read yours" game. I do read a great deal of what people write on the monetized blogging sites. I do comment when I like what I read, but this make me part of a real readership; not a manipulated readership.Playing games to get page views never really produces the kind of income you want anyway . It does not produce readers who click on ads. Still , it is hard to get an audience because you have to constantly find interesting topics to write about. Sometimes the audience you find is not interested really a whole lot in the things you write about . They read your piece because of one key word that lead them to your article. Becoming someone who writes about things that people really want to read is difficult.

There are tips I think help in regard to better writing for the web.

Web writing is very different from academic writing or personal blogging . It is hard for me to write in a clear and short format . I do not speak in short sentences and rarely speak or think in less than complicated terms. I tend not to read fluff and expect meat in the things I read. Still lots of folks reading the internet want "just the facts ." Being concise and clear is essential to being an effective online writer. I still need a lot of work in this area. Easy-to-read articles with original information will produce the readership you want.

The second thing I have learned is that ;yes keywords are important .They are "key" to being found by your reader. The best I can say is to look at free to use articles on topics similar to topics you write and "see" what key words they are using. Also, look at alternative search" terms "a search engine will give you. You can get an idea what kinds of terms people are using to find the kind of articles you are writing.

Submitting your blogs and articles to search engines monthly, pinging your site at places like Pingoat and using article submission sites will build your page views. These methods tend to work only after a long periods of time. Posting to social networks gets you more immediate exposure.Unless your content goes viral; it is about as effective as emailing your articles to your friends and family. It only produces a captive audience who is readiing what you write because they know you. Some might click ads ,but you should always look for a "natural " audience.

A natural audience is simply an audience that is looking for the type of information you have written about. They have a real need or interest in the information you are giving. They are more likely to click on the ads related to your content or make purchases on your monetized site.

Very few people will make a living wage from writing articles for monetized blog and information sites. Ideally , you write for these sites simply because you want to share your expertise or you hope to drive the reader to you website related to your artices content. Still, for part time income writing for the web can be one of the easiest ways to make money online and feed that need to see your name in print.

I think that one of the key things to remember in writing for an audience on the internet is to give your readers something to think about. Whether you are expressing your opinion or a personal story; the more that your audience can relate to you, the better.
