Finding Nemo: Reality Depicted in Ocean Life

"You Think You Can Do These Things, but You Just Can't"

Mag Inzire
This movie is truly an enchanting story about a clownfish father named Marlin and a lost son named Nemo. It is an underwater adventure which shows how a parent would go to all extremes to find its most loved possession, his child. Marlin who is first seen as a fearful and easily intimidated dad that will do anything to protect his son from harm learns how to overcome all obstacles that are faced his way in search of his son Nemo. The rest of the characters in the movie only enhances and captivates the true meaning of what a family unit is suppose to be.

As a parent this movie has a true impact on reality and although it was based on ocean characters with talking fish, turtles, sharks and other living creatures it truly depicts how the love for a child really exists. The sacrifices that a parent makes for their children and no matter at what lengths a parent will go to are truly demonstrated in this movie. It shows how a father will go to all extremes to take care and protect the most precious thing that was given to him and was willing to risk his own life just as any parent would and should do. On this journey he battles sharks, surfs with turtles, and gambles with jellyfish and ultimately he survives an encounter while being in a whale's stomach.

Marlin learned how to never give up in what he believed and in the frantic search of finding Nemo he encountered amazing characters that later he learned to befriend and also learned some wisdom along the way with great parenting advice from his tortoise friend named Crush. He also learned valuable lessons from his partner Dory a blue tang fish who although had memory loss was very wise in many of her choices and tactics.

As I watch this movie over and over with the youngest of my four children I often find things that I have missed and can correlate so much of what my real life has and am going through that I must rate this as what of my favorite movies. My all time favorite line from this movie, that on a day to day basis I keep reminding myself is a conversation that took place between Marlin and Dory. As they were what Marlin thought clinging for his life in the whale's stomach he turns towards Dory and says, "I promised I'd never let anything happen to him," and Dory in reply stares at him kind of puzzled and says "Hmm that's a funny thing to promise," Marlin cannot understand her perplexed look and says "What" finally Dory says back to Marlin, "Well, you can't never let anything happen to him. Then nothing would ever happen to him."

As a mother and as I am sure that all of us parents out there we hope and think that we will always be there to protect our children from harms way but in reality if would don't allow those bumps and falls then how would they ever learn to stand up on their own two feet.

"You think you can do these things, but you just can't, Nemo!" Famous words that I tell my teenagers all the time, but the truth is they probably can.

Finding Nemo is a must see movie and I highly recommend it to everyone of all ages it is fun, engaging and most of all it can give a tad look at what life is when dealing with children. Not easy that's for sure!!
