Amazing Grains Co-Op (214 Demers, Grand Forks, ND)

The best source of organic groceries is Amazing Grains Co-Op in downtown Grand Forks. They get fresh produce every Wednesday, and most of it is organic. The romaine lettuce heads and rainbow chard are particularly bright and beautiful. Amazing Grains is one of the few places to get organic meat in the area. Amazing Grains has an incredible selection of organic foods considering its size and location. Amazing Grains Co-Op has member benefits for just a $100 fully reimbursable fee.

In the summer, Amazing Grains has a Co-op garden a few blocks away from the store. You can pay for produce at the store, and then go pick out what you paid for from the garden. This is a fabulous way to get the freshest and best produce.

CSA options

There are several local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) options available for summertime produce - direct from the farm. A local farm will deliver your box of produce to a local drop off point. Sign up in the spring to get a weekly box of farm-fresh produce during the summer and fall. Most local farms aren't certified organic, but utilize organic practices which you can ask the farmer about.

Hard-to-Find Organic Grocery Items

Most stores, especially Amazing Grains, are very good about ordering products they don't carry. If you can't find what you are looking for it is good to ask.
