For the past five years, I've had the privilege to work from home. I make my own hours, and vacation at a time of my choosing, and don't have to check in with a boss. I've written articles, transcribed videos, and worked the phones for a marketing research company. Each day job leads from all over the country are posted. Jobs range from bloggers, medical transcription, service reps, freelance writers, and everything in between.

Beware if a job promises you $5,000 a week for part time hours, or shows you enticing pictures of beaches, or sporty expensive cars. Successful scammers know how to lure you in.

A few classic scams still exist, and one of the most well known is stuffing envelopes. The lure of big money for such a seemingly simple job, reels in large numbers of unsuspecting people, hoping for a big windfall. You pay your money to sign up, and then receive instructions on how to get other people to place the same ads that you responded to. If you really think about all the automated equipment used to stuff envelopes, no one is going to pay you big bucks to sit home with a pile of envelopes and a sponge.
