First, eat a healthy; good foods inside turn into good skin outside. The old phrase "you are what you eat" applies; if you eat poorly your skin cannot fight infection which causes acne. Include in your diet carbohydrates, protein, vegetables, fruits, salads, fish, beef, chicken, honey, beans, nuts, and seeds, etc. Avoid greasy foods as these tend to make us sweat which quickens the acne process and makes more appear. Take a multi vitamin with food to make sure you are getting enough vitamins B and C, these are you acne fighting soldiers. Make sure you drink about 120 ounces of water each day. This can be mixed in juice and milk but mostly you want just plain water. Water keeps your skin resilient and better able to fight the acne infection. At least 8 of these ounces should be pomegranate or pomegranate/blueberry juice. These juices help eliminate toxins from the body allowing your body to concentrate more on fighting skin infections instead of inner body toxicity. First thing in the morning drink water with a touch of honey in it, this also helps reduce inner body toxins.
When you do get a pimple don't pop it. Try applying a paste of 1 tablespoon honey, and 1 tablespoon yogurt. For prevention apply a paste of cucumber, coriander, and mint on your acne prone areas, let it sit for at least 15 but no more than 30 minutes and rinse off thoroughly. Wash your face at least twice a day with a gentle cleanser. If you insist upon using an exfoliate try to limit this to two to three times each week. Your skin needs time to heal after exfoliating and instead of preventing acne you will make the problem worse, or permanent so that no treatments will ever help your skin.
Walking daily is a great exercise, at least 30 minutes each day for optimum health. Believe it or not good physical body health will help with skin problems. Exercising induces sweating; sweating opens pores and prevents infections and bacteria from gathering in those pores. Once your exercise regimen is complete be sure to shower and scrub thoroughly with a gentle cleanser (no exfoliates!). This will make sure that your skin is clean and that there will be no infections or bacteria on your skin to settle in your pores as they close.
