Five Tips for Searching for Retail Jobs Online
#1 Retail Job Search Tip - Design a Portfolio Website
In addition to posting your resume on websites, create a simple portfolio website. Its never been easier to build a website on the cheap, so why not do it to help with your job efforts. Include the site in your email signature and on all of your applications. Don't forget to include your contact information, but do it in a way to avoid spam!
#2 Retail Job Search Tip - Take Your Search to Companies of Interest
Don't wait for the job fairy to find your resume on a website you have posted it! Figure out a few target companies you would like to work for and contact the human resources department directly for employment. Use the web to research the company's website before taking this step so you are knowledgeable about the job, needs of the company, and find any reference material that you can regarding the pay from the company.
#3 Retail Job Search Tip - Use an On-line Recruiter
Recruiters are hungry for well qualified candidates to place in the retail job industry and will have access to job leads that you will not.
#4 Retail Job Search Tip - Make a Video Resume
Especially for the person seeking employment who may not have a significant depth of experience, the video resume can help bridge this gap by providing your prospective employer with an idea of who you really are and what your motivation level to work in the retail field really is.
#5 Retail Job Search Tip - Use Job Alerts
Many job web sites have alert features that will email subscribers when new jobs that meet search criteria are posted to the site. Another option one can do is to subscribe to RSS feeds from job sites as well that contain new retail job openings added to the site.
