Also, you can grab a friend to take with you, who will enjoy finding the different types of birds. In the city you will find sparrows, wrens, pigeons, or finches, even cardinals and many more. However, in the woods, you may find owls, hawks, woodpeckers, blue jays, raven, crows, or many other feathered friends. At the beach you may see: sea gulls, pelicans, and other water friendly birds that tend to fly above the water.
You can purchase a birdfeeder and find that many different birds can exist in your own back yard. Many avid bird watchers are actually keeping journals and photos of the birds that they find. Some families are planning bird watching trips and the kids learn about the many birds they find. But, the best place to look for unusual birds is at your local zoo. Honestly, you will see many species of birds that you may never see any other way.
Allow plenty of time to wait for birds, so they can approach your destination. Then, be very quiet when trying to capture a glimpse of it or you will startle it. Also, bird watchers can plan trips to a nearby forest or lake that has different kind birds. Sometimes, you will find the prettiest birds living in your own community. Before planning an expensive vacation to another state, try looking around your own state for these amazing and unusual birds.
Listening will also help you find locations near you, which have lots of different birds to watch. Some sing and some have unique calls that can be heard, long before you will see the birds. Start by planning your adventure and buy the book you need to learn about each bird. Therefore, it is important to do proper research, so you know the sounds each bird makes. Unfortunately, you must be able to identify the types of bird that is making the noise.
Remember that all birds sound different, during certain times of the day or night. Plus, some birds only come out at night, while other species are sleeping. Pick a quiet spot to sit and have your camera ready, just in case you see a bird. As bird to moves closer to you, their communications will be louder or they will make some other noises. For example, you may hear the sound of leaves rustling, as bird fly from tree to tree.
Train your ear to pick up on these noises, by concentrating and clearing your mind of all other noises or thoughts. Only, you will be able to hear tiny twig snapping, while a bird scours for food on the ground. Sometimes, at certain times of the day, you will hear more types of birds communicating amongst themselves. So, look for the times when birds are usually active in your favorite spot and start building your knowledge...one bird call at a time.
