I have a 12 month old son, and I had all those questions before he was born, too. We tried many different diapers and discovered, that no, all diapers are definitely not the same. There are many variances from one to the next. Also, in our experience, the brand name diapers were definitely better than the store brands that we tried. Sadly, to answer the next question, I will again have to use the word no. It does appear that all diapers are approximately the same width from brand to brand in the same size, but the length varies greatly. And to answer my final question, sometimes you do have to try several different diapers before you find one that fits for your child. I would like to point out the good points on the diaper we use now on our son, though.
Diapers vary a lot from brand to brand. We use Huggies Supremes on our son, now. They don't seem to leak nearly as often. The elastic in the leg band seems to work better than most other brands. They are also trimmer between the legs, allowing babies to move around more freely. When baby wets a Huggies Supreme, the diaper doesn't seem to clump up the way it does for many other brands. They are also longer than many store brands. This can be quite helpful if you have a child who is tall and thin instead of short and chubby. My son currently wears a size 3 Huggies Supreme diaper. We recently received a package of size 3 Luvs diapers and they were way too short. He needed at least a size 4 in their brand.
Huggies Supremes may not be the best for all babies, though. I have never actually heard of anyone who had a kid allergic to them, but I am sure they are out there. My son is allergic to Pampers Cruisers, and from what I understand, this isn't all that common either.
If you would like to try Huggies Supreme diapers but haven't yet because of the cost, keep an eye out for coupons and sales. I know that here, with a coupon for $2 off, when the diapers go on sale for $8.50 for the jumbo pack, which they do frequently, I can actually get a package of them cheaper than the Target brand. One drawback is that there are less diapers in the package of Supreme diapers when compared to most store brands and even the original Huggies. So if money is really tight, use a calculator to see how much you are paying per diaper, and decide from there whether or not it is worth it to try the Supremes.

Post a CommentI personally love Pampers Cruisers! They rarely leak, smell great and are so cute! My daughters both have very sensitive skin, and the cruisers seem to be gentle enough for their skin.
