Finding Romance at the Gym

Linda M. McCloud

Yes, the gym could be the perfect place to find your next romantic partner. Who knows you may even find love at the gym. All you need to do is follow a few pointers and you can meet many interesting romantic possibilities while working on the perfect body.

Be approachable

Yes, to meet someone you must be approachable. This means that you must take those ear buds out of your ears while you are exercising. This also means you should smile more and acknowledge that you see those around you.

Don't dress like you want to meet people

Remember this is a gym, not a singles bar. This means that you should still wear the appropriate attire, while looking nice. Wear those gym shorts that fit nice and shows off your assets. But keep that flashy gold tank top at home.

Take The Right Classes

Chances are you won't meet any men if you take a Zumba class. But guys this is a great place to meet woman. As for you women, consider taking a spinning class. It is a great way to shape up those legs and possibly meet a man.

Consider asking for assistance

Yes, it may be cliche to ask a guy to spot you while you attempt to lift weights. But this is a great way to gain a guy's attention and a great way to break the ice, while doing it.

When all else fails, just begin talking

Yes, when all else fails you can just walk up to someone you are interested in and strike up a conversation. Who knows that conversation could lead to drinks, a date and a romance. If you don't try, you can't fail. But if you don't try, you can't succeed.

Now go to the gym. Workout and work on those social skills, too.

I could see where this could be a venue of romantic activity. But since I'm already married I'd better focus on my exercising exclusively :)
