Finding Time to Brainstorm Articles

The Best Time to Brainstorm Your Articles

Amy Brantley
We all know how important it is to brainstorm articles, but when do you find the time? The best time to brainstorm is while you're doing other things. There's no reason to waste time doing nothing, while your laundry dries. Instead, use these times in your day to brainstorm all those topics you've accumulated.

Finding Time to Brainstorm Articles #1: Waiting Rooms

People often sit in waiting rooms doing nothing useful, but why? When you could spend this time brainstorming? Take several topic ideas with you and brainstorm as many as you can before being called back to your appointment.

Finding Time to Brainstorm Articles #2: Traffic Jams

Obviously, you can't write down your brainstorming ideas while you're in the car. Instead, use a voice recorder and brainstorm all the ideas that hit your mind. You'd be surprised at how many topics will enter you mind as well. A song on the radio may trigger an idea or you may even come up with an idea for surviving bad traffic jams.

Finding Time to Brainstorm Articles #3: While Washing Laundry

While your clothes are in the dryer, why not sit down and brainstorm a few articles? Everyday chores will bring about several different ideas. You may find yourself with several more topics to write about, as you brainstorm you current ideas. For example, you may want to review a new laundry detergent or write an article about removing stains from delicate fabrics.

Finding Time to Brainstorm Articles #4: During Commercials

Watching TV can bring up so many different ideas. So, before you forget those ideas, why not brainstorm those articles during the commercials? That way the idea is fresh on your mind and you won't forget important information.

Finding Time to Brainstorm Articles #5: In Between Classes

If you're in college, you may have time in between courses to think about articles. This is a great time to spend working, because you may have just learned something that is worth sharing with the world. If you just learned how to decorate a cake, brainstorm an article on how to create roses out of frosting.

Finding Time to Brainstorm Articles #6: Before Work

This is another time when a voice recorder comes in handy. As you rush through your morning routine, brainstorm the articles you will be writing that day. Having your articles ready to go will ensure that you can quickly write those articles.

Finding Time to Brainstorm Articles #7: During Lunch

As you sit down for lunch, brainstorm articles for the next day. This gives you a jump start and allows you to get even more done. This might also give you other ideas. Do articles about food, restaurants, and even grocery stores.

Amy, this is exactly what I do, one day I got stuck by a train and it inspired me to write rather than turn around like other drivers were doing!

I, too, struggle with coming up with topics to write about, and I'm a firm believer in using every minute to your advantage. This was a great article.

This is a great idea. I'm going to start to brainstorm. Like, Sophie I get up in the morning with no plan and end up writing nothing. It is so frustrating. Thanks. Bye
