Finger Lakes Wine Country in New York State is a very popular place for visitors, but the local area is making a strong effort in 2007 to show that there is still plenty to come see and do even in the middle of winter. This isn't just a seasonal attraction, and the good people of the area are certainly trying to get the word out!

Thanksgiving is over, Christmas is on its way, and the holiday season is in full swing. One of the nicest things to do this time of year is to go with the family out on drives and short trips to see an area. The winter holidays allow for traveling, and for great displays of arts and crafts, and the Finger Lakes Wine Country in New York is no different. In various press releases and other advertisements, they brag about wine tastings, holiday festivals, museum exhibits, and many other activities. So for those in the area, here's a list of great attractions that the area can offer during the winter holidays.

1) There's a plethora of inns, cozy hotels, and a variety of classic bread & breakfast venues that can help you completely enjoy the scenery and ambiance of a great weekend in New York wine country.

2) Free wine tastings. Just because it's winter and the grapes aren't out doesn't mean you can't have fun. This is still wine country, you know!

3) Art Shows. There are a lot of art shows in this area, and even a regional event through out December that gives local artists of all kinds the chance to display their art to the public and make some sales. There are some extremely talented artists, and who knows, maybe for a couple hundred you'll have the early work of a future Rembrandt!

4) Visit museums in Corning, New York. Aside from just having some excellent museums, this winter there are expected to be two major shows. The Rockwell Museum of Western Art is featuring and exhibit of a large collection of Southwestern pottery, while the Corning Museum of Glass is considered to have one of the best collections of glass art in the country. At both museums, children who are under the age of 17 get in free.

5) Attend the December 1st Outdoor Festival. In Corning there is a large festival that includes the classic of food, crafts, and live entertainment. The kids can go on sleigh rides, and if the 1st is too short notice, there's more on the 7th and 8th, as well.

6) Anyone like "The Gambler?" There is a Kenny Rogers concert on December 22, so for all you Kenny Rogers fans, you won't want to miss this one. Tickets are available via phone, at (607) 722-3711.

For this and many other reasons, consider visiting the Finger Lakes Wine Country this winter. It's a great place to get away, the locals are friendly, and what better time than the holidays to get out and do something special?
