Fingerpainting

Alexandra Morgan
She holds her scars close

like a locket
hung loose round her collarbone,

salvaging the betrayals,
she opens the empty locket
while I keep watch over the graveyard.

With a fingertip
I trace its arc
within the small parameter of protruding bone
stretching across a tiny frame,

fingerpainting --from left shoulder
to right and back to center--
over a chronology I don't quite know.
