The Royal Oak Fire Department puts out fires and responds to medical emergencies, but that is only part of the job. The fire department also performs annual inspections of certain public buildings in the city. These include schools, nursing homes, hospitals and gas stations.
These inspections ensure all codes and ordinances are being complied with and give the fire department the opportunity to make sure all safety measures are in place and are being used when necessary. This makes these and other public buildings safer for those Royal Oak residents and visitors who use their particular services.
