Fire Erupts in Dallas After Midnight

It was a beautiful evening in the great city of Dallas, Texas, on the day of celebration for the Veteran's of Foreign Warfare. That was the case until around 2 a.m. the next day when a blazing inferno erupted in Dallas' quaint North Eastern Uptown.

It was a good day for special events, happening all around the city, attractions, and activities. Around the time of 2 a.m. (central time), a call came across the Dallas Fire Department's air waves about a towering inferno in Dallas' premier North Eastern Uptown. It was a blaze to end all celebration in the city, it quickly became a three alarm fire in which many fire officials were called to the scene.

The quietness of the downtown area became a melee of sirens, horns, and commotion. Tourists that were visiting the area for Veterans' Day were in amazement and total disarray. This reporter was close to the scene were the fire took place.

After another Dallas incident that took place in 'Deep Ellum', I thought that I would take a break from all of the madness that was transpiring around me. So I went to the Santeria de Guadalupe Cathedral on Pearl Street to pray for my fallen father, whom served as a Marine in the Vietnam War. That is when I heard the fire trucks, so I quickly jumped in my car to follow the action.

On the streets crossing each other, Pearl Street and Oak Lawn, I witnessed smoke bellowing from an upscale apartment complex. People were quickly evacuated from the building and other surrounding complexes due to increasing severity the fire and smoke could create. It took only minutes from the time of the first call that the fire department received to arrive at the scene.

Quickly they geared up and stopped what could have been the most disastrous tragedy ever in North Eastern Uptown. "The whole ordeal lasted for about 20 minutes in which the whole building was totally inspected by fire officials," East Dallas fire chief Steve Abraira commented. "We were just fortunate that someone called the right people as quick as they could and that we were ready and waiting," he adds.

In this reporter's opinion, the quick response of the East Dallas Fire Departments should be commended and person's living in the area should be extremely grateful that they have such loyal officials working to protect their community.
