Fire in Oscoda, Michigan Blocks Traffic on US 23

Randa Morris
At aproximately 3:30 pm on September 8th 2010, a grease fire broke out in the kitchen of the Oscoda Taco Bell/KFC, located on US 23 in downtown Oscoda, Michigan. The restaraunt is locted in a business sector, on one of the most popular traffic routes in the area, which carries north and south-bound weekend travellers. Intersections from Cedar Lake to F-41 are blocked, and traffic is being rerouted to narrow side streets, causing back-ups and long wait times in several locations.

One resident stated that officials are concerned about the possibility of an explosion at the location, as well as the chance that the fire could spread to nearby Gary Oil, located on the south side of the Taco Bell/KFC location. The Oscoda Shell Gas is located on the north side of the burning building, as well.
