Fired! Carrie Prejean Loses Miss California Crown

Controversy and Personal Agendas Cause Carrie Prejean to Lose Miss California Title & Crown

Former Miss California Carrie Prejean was fired on June 10, less than a month after being assured by Donald Trump she would keep the Miss California crown.

Donald Trump Tells Carrie Prejean She Can Keep Crown on May 12

At a May 12 press conference attended by then Miss California Carrie Prejean and outspoken Miss USA pageant director Keith Lewis, Donald Trump originally called Prejean's pageant answer "honest," and said her semi-topless photos were "fine." Trump claimed that he would allow Prejean to continue on as Miss California. ("Miss California Carrie Prejean to Keep Crown and Title Despite Nude Photos" - Associated Content)

Keith Lewis Announces Carrie Prejean Is No Longer Miss California

However, Keith Lewis, executive director of K2 Productions and reportedly a gay activist, has been very critical of Carrie Prejean since her answer to the gay marriage question at the Miss USA Pageant, posed to her by Perez Hilton. On June 10, Keith Lewis issued a press release saying the decision to remove Carrie Prejean as Miss California was based "solely on contract violations." Lewis claimed that after the May 12 press announcement in New York when Prejean was told she would remain Miss California, he "hoped we would be able to forge a better working relationship." He then blamed Prejean for loosing her crown claiming it was clear that Prejean "has no desire to fulfill her obligations under our contract and work together." Donald Trump Tells Carrie Prejean "You're Fired" on June 10

Although he had earlier defended Carrie Prejean, on June 10 Donald Trump changed his mind and gave Keith Lewis the final approval to fire Prejean. The flip-flopping Trump said in the press release that he offered Lewis his "full support in making this decision."

Keith Lewis May Have Personal Agenda About Miss California and Gay Marriage Issue

While it is entirely possible there were disputes over which appearances Carrie Prejean would fulfill, it has been apparent from watching this situation unfold that Keith Lewis has had his own personal agenda in the way he has handled the Carrie Prejean situation from the beginning. From the moment Perez Hilton was deemed qualified to judge a beauty pageant and then sanctioned in asking a politically-charged question that Donald Trump admitted killed Prejean's chances, whichever way she answered, Keith Lewis has made it clear his goal was to get Carrie Prejean fired. It has been bothersome to watch Lewis as he has fanned the flames of public opinion against Prejean at every opportunity, making one critical statement after another about the young beauty contestant.

Keith Lewis May Have Wanted Miss California Carrie Prejean to Pose Semi-Nude for Playboy

While Prejean made her own share of mistakes as far as her poor judgment in photos she allowed to be taken, she claims Keith Lewis, who has been very critical of her semi-topless photos, wanted her to pose semi-nude for Playboy for $140,000. If Keith Lewis was "absolutely stunned" by Carrie Prejean's semi-topless photos, why would he want her to pose semi-nude for Playboy? Lewis has also talked publicly about Prejean's breast implants - breast implants his organization apparently encouraged and helped pay for. It is a fine trick to set a young woman up for implants, provocative poses, and controversial questions and then loudly criticize her for the results. The ongoing debacle has made the Miss USA Pageant look extremely unprofessional and more like a gay-rights campaign than a beauty pageant.

Former Miss California Carrie Prejean to Pursue a Book and Other Opportunities

In the final analysis, this will all work to Carrie Prejean's advantage as she plans to write a book and pursue other opportunities. Now that she has been relieved from from her Miss California duties and what must have been a toxic relationship with Lewis, Carrie Prejean will have plenty of time to pursue other, healthier options. She is already a national celebrity due to the pageant's gross mishandling of the Perez Hilton question, and she is becoming a sought-after spokesperson and event host.

The Miss California pageant's first runner up, Tami Farrell, will now don the Miss California crown in Prejean's place, but Carrie Prejean will always be the young woman who comes to mind when people hear "Miss California."

I absolutely agree with Sheryl's analysis!

Yeah, we knew this was coming. Trump flip-flopped due to the pressure from the anti-faith community and would have used any further questionable activity by Prejean as an excuse.

So whats next? If you are anti-gay marriage and in any industry and you say openly what you beleive, you will be fired? Now that is fascism.

Well done write on this issue that has been going on for some time. You'd think things would have to be a "role Model" type to have a crown. I think so anyway.Having revealing photos is not indicating that good role model at all.
