Fired for Difference of Beliefs

Apparently Christianity is the Best Thing to Put on an Application Now a Days

Joe Jackson
I was let go today, this is how it went. My boss started having prayer meetings in his office. About 4 weeks ago he asked me to join his prayer meeting and I declined because we have different beliefs. After this my boss started to treat me differently. I was forced to be on call while I was on vacation, and again while off for a death in the family, no one else has ever had to do this. He would also ride my back on a daily basis and make smart remarks about my weight, my sexual preference, and my beliefs. At this same time I had some family medical problems that I needed to deal with. I could not deal with his harassment and my personal problems so I asked to go to third shift and to this he refused and continued harassing me on a daily basis. I was on third shift before and was asked to come to day shift due to being short handed, at this time I was told I could go back to third shift once we were full staff again. Because I was unable to deal with the personal problems and being harassed I talked to Human Relations on several occasions and asked that my complaints be documented and the HR Representative refused to document my complaints. I have had problems in the past but as soon as I refused to join the prayer meetings my supervisor was holding in his office things got much worse and I was forced to resign. I am giving you the opportunity to correct these issues before I move any farther.
Thanks Jerald Graham

This was posted in a discussion forum I frequent. A real hard working family man pouring his heart out to friends. To think this kind of injustice is allowed to exist is sickening. It is not to my knowledge whether or not Jerald Graham is a hard working man, but for someone who takes in 100 K a year, you know that jobs like that aren't just handed out.

All Graham wanted was to do his job with no hassle and support his family, which he did through hard work and years of dedication, because again seriously who takes in that kind of cut now a days? No hassle from employees or bosses about anything that wasn't in the least bit non-work related. Not about what he watched on TV or what kind of car he drove. What restaurants he frequented and what dishes he ordered. He wanted a professional working environment to which he would have been able to do his job and be care free. Jerald Graham had no such luck, as you've already read. Something that was suppose to have been his business was the reason for his downfall. It was the work and punishment of no God or Jesus Christ but of a smug ignorant who judged even though he had been taught not to. Never mind Jerald's work ethic or his devotion to it, but instead center on something with no relation to his work what so ever... his form or prayer, or lack there of.

In this country it is a man or woman's right to refuse such activities especially in a place not meant for it's publicity. When people do not go to your church or do not participate in your rituals it is because they do not agree or believe the way you do. To force them, harass them to do so is both fascist and plain hateful. Is this what we've come to? To allow such evangelical bullies to have their power, their control over the rest of us. I neither care for the strict proficiency in my content or it's length or any incoherency. I just realized that this has to be bigger than Jerald Graham. Bigger than me. Bigger than you. It does not matter what convictions you hold, what god you pray to. Not to Jerald Graham. Not to me. Only you. Wake up and realize that.

To anyone who can help put such abuse to an end... to anyone who can help Jerald Graham...

You need only stand and volunteer what you can.
