Firefly Cafe in Savannah, Georgia - Restaurant Review

Vegetarians Rejoice!

Karen Francis
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Savannah, Georgia on a short weekend with the girls and let me tell you, it was a wonderful site to behold. As soon as we entered the Historic District of Savannah, Georgia we instantly fell in love with the city. The river views were spectacular and the friendly Southerners were a joy!

We traveled about 3.5 hours from Atlanta, Georgia, so my time we arrived in Savannah I was looking for a nice air-conditioned place to have lunch. I saw a few options that were close by, but then one of my co-travelers mentioned she had read a review about this café in Savannah, called Firefly. Although, the place was about a half a mile walking distance from where we were, everyone seemed game to check it out, so I conceded.

Once we approached this café after walking about a half a mile, I wasn't necessarily impressed, as it appeared to be a very small café tucked in a very lovely residential neighborhood. Okay, since we mad the half a mile journey on foot, I just wanted to have a meal and relax.

As soon as you enter the Firefly Café, you take a few steps down and discover a very charming little eatery that is reminiscent of a café in Paris. There are little metal bistro tables that line the windows of the café and inside there are several tables and one large booth that has beautiful colorful fabric covering the seats.

Once we were seated, my attention went quickly to the menu and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu had a lot of vegetarian choices that included a tofu sandwich, veggie quesadillas, corn chowder soup, yogurt and fruit and many other options. I am becoming more and more health conscious, so I went for the yogurt and fruit. However, once I had a taste of the veggie quesadilla I decided that I would order my own portion. The veggie quesadilla consisted of mushrooms, peppers, onions and there was this sauce that was drizzled on top that was simply heaven!

The Firefly Café also offers brunch and breakfast items as well, so if you're not in the mood for a sandwich or entrée, you can enjoy flavorful omelets, homemade pancakes, grits or a host of other breakfast items.

The bottom line: Excellent price, Lovely Neighborhood and Great food! Visit the Firefly Café on line at www.fireflycafega.com or call them at 912-234-1971. If you are located in Savannah, Georgia feel free to stop by and see them at 321 Habersham Street, Savannah, Georgia 31401-4421.

The Firefly Café is a little taste of Paris in the heart of Historic Savannah!
