Firefox Vs. Internet Explorer Vs. Safari

Why Firefox is the Best Browser of the Three

Ji Park
TheInternet has become an essential tool for our society in the 21st century. Just imagine that one day, your internet stops working. For many people, it will be disaster. Personally, if I have to choose between no internet and no cell phone, I would choose no cell phone because internet is much more important than cell phones.

One of the major issues that people worry is the type of browser for using internet. People who are rather new with computers seem to not care about what kind of browser they use. This is a big mistake because the type of the browser they use can change how safe and convenient their time with internet may be. I will be reviewing three browsers - Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari. While there are other browsers, I am going to focus on these three because I believe that they are the top three ones that people use the most.

Factor 1: Safety

In terms of safety, I can assure that Internet Explorer is not the safest one. In fact, it is the most dangerous one. The problem with Internet Explorer is that it is built to take everything available on webpages. It does not distinct itself from dangerous and safe materials, so even if you accidentally click on the ads with virus, this one accidental click will let your computer to receive all the viruses and possible malwares.

Does this happen with Firefox or Safari? Absolutely not (it's not virus-free, but happens in much less rate)! Firefox has settings for you to determine whether you will receive cookies and caches from certain websites, and it also can select what you can receive from the webpages. With Safari, I am not familiar with its exact settings, but it has more security built-in than Internet Explorer and maintains similar styles of security with Firefox.

So, if you ever had an experience of computer shutting down or malfunctioning because of virus, stop using the Internet Explorer. Do everything you need in Firefox or Safari.

Factor 2: Convenience

Under convenience, I want to discuss how compatible these browsers are. For the most time, they are all same. There is not too much difference in the abilities of three browsers in terms of displaying the content. Now, does that mean that they are equal?

No. There are some issues, and one pivotal issue deals with ActiveX Control. This is a framework in which the users need to enable for some of the contents, often in blogs with embedded media files, to appear. Internet Explorer is the most convenient one because it is so easy to view websites with ActiveX Control. At the same time, because it takes all the contents from ActiveX Control, if someone put a virus or spyware in the webpage with ActiveX Control, Internet Explorer is automatically infected. As far as Firefox and Safari are concerned, I tend to believe that Firefox is easier, thanks to its various add-ons (applications that you can add by downloading from Firefox websites).

Factor 3: Speed

This is the last one you should consider for good browser. The fastest one is Firefox. There are debates on this issue, but this is how I perceived it. The second fastest is Safari. Safari is quick once it is loaded, but the time for you to double-click and see the browser just takes way longer than what I prefer. Now, lastly, Internet Explorer takes the longest time.

Ending Remark

Although Internet Explorer is best for convenience, Firefox is better on the other two issues. Firefox is constantly updated, and I hope that you can take this article's tips to help and choose either Firefox or Safari. At all costs, avoid Internet Explorer. Use at your own risk for viruses and spywares.

I agree with you Firefox is the best of the bunch, even though I have problems with Firefox every time there's an upgrade. Excellent article. :-)

Firefox won my heart with its tabs. I can't surf the web without them anymore.

Firefox is my default browser. Like you said, it loads fast and offers amazing features (add-ons). A very nice article.

Informative. I've always wondered what some of the differences are.
