Fireside Coffee: A Great Michigan Made Product

Lisa Marie
On the news lately you hear how the State of Michigan is struggling, and how we need to not rely so heavily on the auto industry for jobs and revenue in the state. I have long been a supporter of buying local products and have found another awesome product to add to my list.

While attending the Great Lakes Art Fair in Novi, Michigan, I discovered a great Michigan based company. This wonderful company is Fireside Coffee based in Swartz Creek, Michigan.

Fireside Coffee specializes in making Instant Gourmet Coffee, Cocoa, and Chai. I know what you are saying, "Gourmet Instant Coffee, how good can that taste?" Well, let me tell you, it tastes great. For an occassional coffee drinker such as myself, I've found this brand of instant coffee to be very convenient.

The coffee smells and tastes great. There is no need to add any additional sugar or creamer, though on a cold winter's night in Michigan you may want to top off the coffee or cocoa with a bit of whipped cream. Directions are provided on the can for how to serve the drinks iced as well.

I purchased two flavors of the instant coffee, Vanilla Nut Fudge and Hazelnut Mocha, and one of the gourmet cocoa flavors, Caramel Chocolate while at the art fair, for a special show price of $20 for 3 8.25 oz cans. On their website, www.firesidecoffee.com the coffee sells for $7.25 a can, the cocoa for $7.95 and the Chai $9.95 a bag. They also offer sampler packs for $12.00 a box.

Fireside Coffee offers both regular and decaf for all ten of their coffee flavors. Besides the two flavors I purchased, these are also available: Cinnamon Chocolate, Chocolate Raspberry, Chocolate Mint, Chocolate Covered Cherry, Coconut Creme, Butter Rum, Pumpkin Pie Mocha, and Caramel Mochaccino. They offer five of their flavors sugar-free. Chai (a popular form of tea) comes in three flavors: Spiced Chai, Chocolate Chai, and Vanilla Chai, which is available in decaf.

If you are a Michigan resident and are looking to support a local company you can visit the Fireside Coffee website at www.firesidecoffee.com. The website offers all of their products for sale, as well as a listing of retailers who sell their wonderful gourmet products.
