Many children are rushed to the hospital every year for getting hurt by fireworks. One of the most common injuries is that they get burned by the use of fireworks. Try to be extra careful that does not happen. It is okay to have fun with fireworks if they are legal in your state. However, you have to be smart with them more than ever with children around. Here are 10 firework safety tips for children:

• Always have a responsible adult in the area of the fireworks to supervise the children. Children should never be left alone with fireworks.

• Make sure that if you allow the child to play with fireworks that they are age appropriate and that they never play with more than one at a time.

• Do not allow children to ever ignite fireworks themselves.

• Always play with fireworks outside in a free open space. It is dangerous otherwise.

• Have the children stay far away out of distance of fireworks when a person is lighting and setting the fireworks off.

• Make sure that a child holds a firework, for example a sparkler, away from themselves and other things like leaves and grass. Children can burn or catch themselves on fire if they are not careful. Leaves and grass can easily catch on fire.

• Be careful of sparklers in which many children like to play with because it can easily burn them because they heat up so high. Sparklers have an amazing high degree of heat to them. Sparklers are one of the most common fireworks for hurting children and causing injury.

• Always have a non-inflammable bucket filled with water near by so that the children can put fireworks like sparklers immediately into after their use.

• Be careful of the ash that falls down from the sky with the big fireworks because it can easily burn a child.

• Keep a fire extinguisher near by in case of an emergency.

Sparklers get very hot. I always put mine out before they burn very far b/c I don't want it too close to my hand.
