Whether you're in the mood for fireworks, or a traditional Fourth of July celebration, whether you'd like to splash down with the Ducks or help grill the world's largest sausage patty, Albany, NY's Independence Day celebration has it all.

Fireworks For Everyone
Price Chopper's 31st consecutive year of "Fabulous Fourth and Fireworks is on at Empire State Plaza. The biggest annual 4th of July event of the area will feature a day full of musical performances by The Spin Doctors, local stars Ten Year Vamp and Melvin Sparks, and the blues artist featured in Price Chopper's "House of BBQ" television commercials. There will also be a family fun zone, the grilling of the world's largest sausage patty for the second year in a row and a day-long celebration commemorating this historic day.

In a press release, Price Chopper's CEO Nick Golub said, "Price Chopper is proud to create this staple event for the Capital Region year after year. This year's Fabulous Fourth & Fireworks will be nothing short of spectacular."

This year's event will begin at 3:00 p.m. and continue throughout the day with entertainment and activities. The Fireworks show commences at 9:15 p.m. The event is free for all. The Albany City website has more information.

Duck Down!
Head down to the Hudson for splashy fun with the Ducks. Guaranteed to thrill the whole family, the Albany Aqua Ducks & Trolleys amphibious tours are imaginative, relaxing and thoroughly American. The Ducks offer uniquely educational and fun-filled tours. See the historic sites and then Splash into the Hudson River for a mariner's view of the city's skyline. Later, enjoy refreshments as you view the Fireworks show from your unique vantage point. Ticket prices are $30 for adults and $25 for children of 4-12 years old. The Albany Aqua Ducks & Trolleys website has more information.

A Traditional Fourth
The Schuyler Mansion, a breathtaking historical home right in the heart of Albany, is the perfect setting for an old-fashioned Independence Day event. Schuyler Mansion was home to Philip J. Schuyler, a renowned Revolutionary War general, US Senator, and business entrepreneur. The Georgian structure is built on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River. From 1763-1804, the mansion was the site of military strategizing, political mingling, elegant social affairs, and an active family life.

Step back in time to the 18th century to play old and forgotten games, buy a few old-fashioned crafts (or display your own work!) and mingle to the music of a bygone era. Free ice cream is sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike, and none of the activities cost a penny! In the mood for more history? Take a turn through the stately mansion itself: guided tours are available at just $2 a head. This event is on from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 4th, 2007, rain or shine. The New York Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation has more information.
