We all love the Fourth of July for many reasons. However, it is every parent's fear that their beloved children could be injured due to the high risk entertainment, mainly fireworks. It is important to teach our children how to safely manage their fun with these dangerous displays of beauty. There are a few easy steps to conduct a safe personal show without putting anyone in harms way.

As adults we can only blame ourselves for personal injuries due to careless or even accidental misuse of fireworks. Our children are our own responsibilities on the other hand. If they are hurt it in any case, then the fault can fall on a number of their adult influences. Therefore, teaching them the little tricks that could prevent even the smallest burn will benefit everyone in the long run. Even when taking caution, you are at risk of minor burns when dealing with fireworks.

First you should start with the safest ways to protect yourself while lighting the fireworks. Instead of using conventional lighters, one should always use a lighting utensil with at least four inches of clearance between the flame and the hand. This will prevent many small burns and inconvenient sparks hitting your hands. Another important caution to take is making sure there is no one within at least 20 feet of area the pyrotechnics will take place. Being too close to the explosive display can be dangerous in the case that something goes wrong. It is just as essential that you have a specific section designated for the activities that is not crowded by people or trees. Plan ahead of time where you will shoot the fireworks so that you can ensure this will be safe in every way knowing these are displays of fire and explosives. In this section make sure to have something that will support the single bottle rockets and other projectile forms of fireworks. Making sure they shoot straight up in the air can save someone from being hit by their erratic path and unpredictable timing. Fireworks are not toys, and they shouldn't be used as a toy or for any games. Such things as Roman Candle and Bottle Rocket wars can be very dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.

These are just a few of the most fundamental pointers to providing the entire family with a safe show. More information can easily be found wherever fireworks are sold in your area. Even the smallest things can mean a lot if it prevents something potentially serious from happening to our little loved ones. With cautious handling, fireworks can be extremely fun and captivating. State laws should be understood before purchasing or lighting any fireworks. In some states this is illegal although somewhat overlooked for the Fourth.
