Refusal to Fix an Unwanted Cut
If a stylist really screws up your hair to an extremely obvious extent, there will almost always be a complimentary cut to repair and restyle the damaged 'do. But what if a stylist doesn't necessarily "mess up", but rather cuts your hair into a style that is nothing like what you had wanted and requested? If you know that you were clear when you explained what your desired cut and style was and are dissatisfied with how it turned out, you are absolutely entitled to a complimentary re-cut, where the stylist is obliged to touch up the style until it matches what you requested. Now, bear in mind that stylists aren't magicians and cannot turn your curly and unruly mane into that of Jennifer Aniston's, but in that situation they should clearly explain that the style you seek is unattainable. Otherwise, if your haircut is not to your liking and your stylist seeks payment for a re-cut, it is definitely time to kick he or she to the curb.
Not Getting Your Money's Worth
If you pay fifty dollars for a haircut, you should get a fifty dollar hair cut. If you pay one hundred and fifty dollars for a haircut, then you should definitely get a one hundred and fifty dollar hair cut. Too many people are too gentle on stylists and don't expect the absolute best, but are paying top dollar regardless. Cuts and colors are too expensive these days for one to tolerate a sub-par style. There are thousands of stylists in most major metropolitan areas, so don't be afraid to shop around. You may never get a perfect cut, but you should certainly always get what you paid for when it comes to your hair.
Multiple Cancellations
Many salons' top stylists feel that because of their status, they have the luxury to cancel on clients whenever they need a mid-day shopping spree. Occasionally you will receive word from a receptionist that your appointment has been cancelled because the stylist is genuinely ill, and in that case you should absolutely give them another chance. But more than one cancellation is certainly reason enough to go forth and find a different stylist. Remember - for the top dollar that you are paying, you are entitled to be treated like a movie star, no matter what. It may seem harsh to let a stylist go, but there are plenty of clippers in the sea.
