First Amendment Rights....Inappropriate?

C. L. Collins
Surely one would think that adults within the education field would know what the First Amendment of the Constitution means and how it is applied. However, by all accounts, I believe some school officials "need" to return to school and have some of the middle school students take their jobs.

Reported by LifeSiteNews.com, a middle school in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania decided to order a student to remove his T-shirt because it bore the message, "Abortion is not Healthcare."

The reason for ordering this student to remove his shirt - it was inappropriate because President Obama was to speak that day, a public address to students around the country, which occurred this past September. Can you imagine the horror that Obama experienced that some student would present his opposing view on abortion although Obama was hundreds of miles away?

Have these school officials taken a correspondence lesson in the ACLU Political Correctness Indoctrination lost course for the mindless?

Now don't get me wrong as I am aware that some attire is not appropriate in schools such as glorifying drugs, murder, sexual innuendo, glorifying gangs, racists comments - well you get the hint - but how does an opposing political view get grouped into the same category? Well in one word - Obama.

All of a sudden, we have a new President - that by the way has made the left believe they can do anything in his name as if Obama is God - that is so popular everywhere but America, that he must be protected at all levels - even if he just sent a video.

The analogy that in today's America that anything anyone does will offend someone has become so outrageous that I believe everyone should stay home and become a hermit - either what you say or what you dress will no doubt offend someone so if you venture out, you need to shut the lips and go naked. Oh wait, the nakedness will offend someone but you can always say you made the news.

This student created no disruption until his fifth period teacher about fainted and he was sent to the office to either remove the shirt or get out. Naturally as it is, many students do not pack their entire wardrobe to go to school; he had to turn the shirt inside out. As in many cases such as this, the schools will allow students to wear just about any other set of messages on their clothing but when it comes to Christianity and abortion, they are off- limits because it may offend someone.

Those who are pro-life should not be censored for their views no matter where they are. Every person born in this nation is automatically guaranteed the rights under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights since the day they were born - children old enough to express opinions are not exempt just because they're in a government run school.

This pro-life student violated nothing other than an over-zealous liberal teacher who obviously has distaste for the First Amendment of freedom of speech. This is a case of unconstitutional supper that forgot the dessert and expects that as a teacher, their power means more than the rights of students to express their views - isn't that what schools are suppose to teach, varying views?

As for the student offending Obama - I seriously doubt it bothered him one iota because he is too busy offending everyone else - the sound of crickets from the left is deafening.

I have been told when I speak up about such issues that I am just getting old, out of touch and that times have changed. I always hate to disappoint those who say those things to me - Maybe I am getting older but I am in touch with the US and State Constitutions. As for offending Obama, I seriously doubt it even affected him one iota.

Welcome to liberal America.

Yes, I did see the article and also what was presented in the news. It is unfortunate that in today's society that Christians have become the new target while other religious groups are not touched. But then again, we as Christians knew this was coming as it was foretold of the persecution.

You are so right...did you see my Cheerleader article? School officials simply do not know students' First Amendment rights. For that matter, too many people are just believing what they hear about the mythical "Separation of church and state".
