First time couples need to plan ahead Christmas holiday as to where, when and how they will enjoy the holiday together. Taking in consideration of both and talking out feelings and concerns will help.
When planning where to spend the holidays take in consideration family Christmas traditions for each of the couples. Does one family celebrate on Christmas Eve or on Christmas day? What is all involved with their celebration? Special dinners, do you need to bring a dish to pass? There will be extra gifts to buy? Who will pick the gifts out?
Planning could included which day will they visit one parents home and what day or time will they visit the other parents. This could be one on Christmas Eve with the other on Christmas day.
On Christmas day one could be mid morning to late afternoon, with going to the other parent late afternoon till evening. Some families will celebrate in the morning, afternoon while others prefer the evening.
Couples planning their first Christmas together might choose to have a special day or night before the holidays to have the parents come to their home to celebrate the holiday. This can be done simple and include each family without a lot of stress.
Make sure the couples have a special time to celebrate Christmas alone with enjoying the spirit of Christmas. Some will choose to celebrate without family members on Christmas day. Couples can plan with starting their own special Christmas traditions or including a Christmas tradition that been past on for years.
Invite close friends over with families far away to celebrate the holiday. This can relieve some tension with having to go to other family members homes on the holidays.
Traveling can be a great idea like the Bahamas, Florida or a warm place if you live in the cold part of the country.
Finding the right balance for a fun enjoyable Christmas for first time couples can be fun and exciting. Remember the other person and keep it simple. How will you and your partner decide where to spend the holidays?
