First Date Fashion for Men

Pablo Diaz
As a man, I have relevant experience going on dates with women. I am now committed in a serious relationship, but as I said; I've had my share of dates.

First off, I want to begin by stating that there are different outfits to wear when you have a date in different places. For example, if you're going on a date to the movies, you'll wear something comfortable, not classy, but you can be dressy, in other words, you can wear something like jeans, a nice dress shirt, and a pair of sneakers. Now, if you're going to watch a football game and you're taking that special girl, you can wear a jersey, a hat, shorts/jeans and flip flops, sneakers, or even barefoot!

Another thing that plays a big role is the weather/climate. If you are in a tropical area, with warm weather, please don't wear a sweater. Don't wear furry boots, although MOST men don't wear those. Don't wear gloves or anything of that sort, anything that is designed to keep the body warm. You can wear a nice t-shirt or polo that's not hot enough to make you faint. Don't wear thick jeans or pants that will make you sweaty, no girl likes to touch a man that is sweaty. If you have sweat on your face because you're dressed in the wrong clothing, your date will complain or say something. She might not say something, but she might be turned off and label you as a person with bad hygiene.

Some men feel comfortable wearing flip flops, I, however, only wear them to the beach, pool, park, or any place that is more of a laid back "spot." I see men taking their date to a restaurant wearing a really nice dress-shirt, nice pants/jeans, and wearing flip-flops. That killed the whole outfit; he looked like a man until you see his toes. Some of these men have nicer toes than women! Wear shoes, sneakers, or boots that match your outfit. A fancy restaurant is NOT a place to wear flip-flops to.

I've gotten a lot of praise and compliments when I wear a color that "looks good on me." I am not too dark, but as a Cuban male, I have some color to my skin. I'm kind of a tanned person, and women compliment me when I wear yellow, orange, and other bright colors. My girlfriend happens to like how purple looks on me. Keep in mind the color you're wearing when buying clothes. Try to make it with your skin and wear something that compliments your skin and other features.

Red is a color that attracts attention. Bulls are attracted to it, men love it when women wear red dresses, and cops pull over red cars more than any other color car. This means the human eye is attracted to the color red, use that to your advantage. Try to compliment your skin color with a shade of red that goes good with it. Don't wear neon-red just to get people's attention that will probably have your date leave because her eyes are hurting.

Another thing that you can keep in mind is the way your hair looks. Always, and I mean, always have a "fresh cut." Make sure your hair is not messy; women hate it when men have messy hair, and it looks dirty. Get a haircut that goes with your body type. Make sure you get a nice, clean, haircut that will show how clean and attractive your hair is. Don't go crazy on the gel, I use gel because some of my hairs stand up, but I use it gradually. Don't make a gel paste with 5 gallons of gel on your head.

Now that you know something about what not to wear and what would look good, make sure you smell good. Take a shower and brush your teeth. Buy some mints or gum; use nice cologne that will not make your date nauseas because you sprayed too much on. WEAR DEODORANT. Stinky men don't qualify with the ladies. Keep some nice shoes around. Have a pair of sneakers for fun activities, flip-flops for the beach, dress shoes for the fancy restaurant; don't forget about the dress shirts and t-shirts. Make sure they are appropriate and that they fit you. Don't wear shirts three or four times your size. You might feel comfortable, but you will look like a clown to your date. Don't wear jeans that are three times as big as your real size, you will have huge biceps by the end of the night for all the times you picked up the jeans up to your waist.

Keep clean, wear clothes your size, and wear cologne, deodorant, and shower. Have good breath, get a clean haircut; and don't forget that every occasion or "place" has its own fashion requirements. Football game: casual, loose clothing. Restaurant: fancy clothing, depending on the place. Good luck and help those who need the tips. Show them this article; they'll thank you!
