Rushelle McDermott
If you're a Sacramento citizen or simply swinging by the capital of California and are looking for a perfect location for your first date, look no further. You will find some great ideas for your first date in this article.

Downtown Sacramento is a great spot for a first date. There is much to do and things to see. Beware that street parking may be hard to find on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, when people flock to the restaurants, bars, and clubs.

For a first date downtown, treat your date to a California-Mediterranean dinner at Lucca Restaurant and Bar. Lucca offers great food at a decent price. You will find pastas under $15 a plate and entrees such as their Grilled Bistro Steak for under $20. The atmosphere is casual. The staff is friendly. And if you're doing a lunch date, you might get lucky and see Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who frequents the restaurant. If the weather is nice, ask to sit in the patio area.

You can find Lucca Restaurant and Bar at 1615 J Street, which is across the street from the State Capital. For reservations, call (916) 669-5300. Check out their Web site at www.luccarestaurant.com for more information on the menu and hours.

Second Saturday

Another great first date location and idea is taking your date to the Second Saturday Art Walk. The Second Saturday Art Walk, also known simply as Second Saturday, happens every month on the second Saturday (hence the name). Art galleries around downtown Sacramento stay open late and invite the public to view their art, listen to live music, and take in the local art scene. It's a great way to get to know your date in a relaxing atmosphere. You guys can talk while hopping around different galleries. Check out the Second Saturday web site to download a map of the galleries -- http://2nd-sat.com/. Most of the galleries have free entry.

Gunther's Ice Cream

Sacramento summers are extremely hot to say the least. Why not treat your first date to some delicious ice cream at a historic ice cream parlor? Gunther's Ice Cream has been around since 1940. The ice cream parlor has a loud atmosphere and the place usually has a crowd ranging from teens to families to dates. Their menu has a huge selection at a decent price - you can get sundaes and milkshakes for under $6. From marble fudge to strawberry cheesecake, Gunther's has a variety of flavors for you and your date to try. If you're craving more than ice cream, Gunther's also has a menu of a handful of different sandwiches.

You can find Gunther's Ice Cream is located at 2801 Franklin Boulevard, three blocks from Broadway. For more information about Gunther's Ice Cream, check out their Web site at www.gunthersicecream.com.
