First Female President of India Mrs. Pratibha Patil and a Tribute to Outgoing President Mr. Kalam

Her Excellency Mrs. Pratibha Patil has become the first female President of India. It took sixty years to get first female President of India. During this year people across India is celebrating sixty years of independence.

It was the dirtiest political game we ever seen in India's Presidential election. Pratibha Patil was the nominee of current ruling coalition - Indian National Congress and Left Front, called as UPA. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was the opponent of Mrs. Pratibha Patil for this Presidential election. The current Vice-President Mr. Shekhawat has been defeated in the election and only able to manage half of the total votes what UPA nominee Pratibha Patil received. Mr. Shekhawat later resigned from the Vice-President of India chair. Generally in India's history of Presidential election we never saw much political games in place. But this election was somewhat different from earlier where we saw lots of questions on Pratibha Patil's background and activities in the same style as we see for Presidential election of USA. Each political party of India used this opportunity to expose themselves and tried to hold their power & position. Though the official declaration is yet to come out, Mohamed Hamid Ansari and Najma Heptullah are going to be the nominees for Vice-President of India by Congress-led UPA and NDA, respectfully.

Pratibha Patil is a renowned politician and has a more than 40 years of political experience on national and state level politics in India. She was very close to former Prime Ministers Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Mrs. Gandhi's son Rajib Gandhi. Mrs. Patil spent lots of her time in life as minister and Governor for several states. She is lawyer by profession. The President of India doesn't have much constitutional power unlike the President of USA. The post is more likely as honorary chair. Ruling party always wants to put someone of their choice for this post.

People of India are having mixed feelings for outgoing President Mr. APJ Kalam. Mr. Kalam was the People's President. Mr. Kalam is also known as Missile Man in India. He is the pioneer scientist of space, aviation and missile research of India. The scientist Mr. Kalam was elected as President during 2001 by the then ruling party NDA. Kalam got famous due his few controversial decisions during his tenure as President of India. Those decisions were bold enough and unusual as the President of India. Mr. Kalam also has a great vision which is known as 'Mission 2020'. He wants to see India as a developed country by 2020. President Kalam was very popular among children and he also loves children to a great extend. He believes children are the future of India. Most probably President Kalam was the most popular President of India who has personal thoughts aside for India's development. Last five years we saw one man as President with few rare qualities. People of India wanted President Kalam should be reelected and he should be given little more time shape his great vision of 'Mission 2020'. Unfortunately, people of India have very little control on Presidential election. The Members of Legislative Assembly and Members of Parliament cast their vote to elect President of India. People will love to see Mr. Kalam to go back to his old profession of teaching the future generation of India and invest his brain & time for the betterment of Science & technology of India.
